Hello World

I am a mathematics teacher in the (San Francisco) Bay Area of California, specifically in a place called the Tri-Valley Area. I'm starting this blog to become a more reflective professional, to share my opinions, and to discuss my various levels of success in the classroom.

I've been in education for all of my career. I started teaching in Georgia, then worked on a Ph.D. in mathematics education at the University of Georgia, then worked as a research assistant in California, and currently teaching in California. I may have found a school where I think my professional views and practices will flourish. We'll see.

As with many blogs like this, the opinions stated here are wholly my own and one should not assume that my employer feels the same way. I will try to back up any opinions with facts and/or research. I'll share professional anecdotes from the classroom. Any student work I share will be de-identified, of course.

So, welcome to this part of my journey and thank you for taking the time to walk along this path with me, even if it's for a short distance. Comments are turned on, so please be collegial as I hope I will be. I would love to see this blog turn into a conversation among practitioners, parents, and (if they find the blog) students.

And to quote the tenth Doctor, allons y!
